The Pakistani team beat Australia in a thrilling match on Monday in Brisbane to advance to the Over-60s World Cup final, where they will take on New Zealand on September 14.

Peter Jensen and Eric Higgins put on a massive 134-run second-wicket stand, which Pakistan was able to restrict to 216-6 after winning the toss and electing to bowl first against the hot favorites.

After losing the first wicket for 30 runs, Jensen and Eric Higgins each scored 91 runs, with Pakistan’s Muhammad Ashraf Pakhali emerging as his team’s star bowler with three wickets.

The opening batter Muhammad Aslam, who was also chosen player of the match, hit a spectacular knock of 63 runs off only 68 balls, guiding Pakistan to 89/1 in the 18th over, giving the Men in Green an early advantage.

After Muhammad Ashraf and Syed Ghaffar scored 28 and 30 runs, respectively, Pakistan was doing well at 161-3 in the 33rd over. However, wickets started to fall quickly, and Pakistan was in trouble at 198-9 with fewer than 5 overs remaining and 18 runs still needed.

When Pakistan required four runs off the final three balls, Tahir Rashid, the wicketkeeper-batter who had struck an unbeaten 41 off 62 balls, and Muhammad Yaqoob revived the team with a vital four from Yaqoob.

Mark Trafford-Walker and Peter Judd remained the most successful bowlers in the semi-final with two wickets each.
