Six children were among the 24 deaths in Gaza as of Sunday due to Israel’s continued bombardment of Palestine.

At least 6 Palestinians have been killed, including 4 children, and more than 45 people wounded in suspected Israeli air strikes late on Saturday.

According to Palestinian authorities, the deceased have been killed since Friday as a result of Israeli attacks that also left 215 people injured.

According to the Israeli military, the aerial and artillery campaign could last a week. However, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi claimed that Cairo is in constant communication with all parties to try to stop the violence.

The Israeli army concluded the second day of its military operation in Gaza with large-scale deadly attacks on overcrowded residential areas, taking the toll to at least 24 people killed since Friday, with at least 203 civilians having been wounded, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

As AFP journalists hear sirens warning of imminent firing in the Tel Aviv area on Saturday evening, civilians sought safety in air raid shelters.

In Rafah, on Gaza’s border with Egypt, women and children were trapped under rubble following an Israeli strike, the strip’s civil defence unit said.

The electricity distributor reported that the only power station in the strip shut down owing to a lack of fuel after Israel blocked its border crossings. Daily life in the strip has come to a complete standstill.

Gaza’s health ministry said the next few hours will be “crucial and difficult”, warning it risked suspending vital services within 72 hours as a result of the lack of electricity.
