In the Historical Park of Karachi, Southern Port, Pakistan, authorities prepared a 3-day exhibit of different varieties of marigold flowers that started on 8th January 2022 (Friday) and continued till 10th January 2022 (Sunday).

The authorities launched this exhibit at the lawns of Frere Hall, which is a British colonial-era building from the 19th century.

The reason behind this enhibit was to restore the ecosystem of Pakistan, that was badly affected from the climate change issue.

Among visitors of this 3-day ehibit, there were thousands of men, women and children. The visitors really enjoyed the colorful flowers scenery, they took photos and let their children roam free on the grounds at Historical Park of Karachi.

There were exhibits of four different varieties of marigold flowers, that included mostly orange, yellow and copper-brown in color. The exhibit also displayed the non-native white marigold.

The three-day exhibit of marigold was opened by Karachi administrator Murtaza Wahab on the January 8th (Friday).

Ali Hasan Sajid, a spokesperson of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) said:

“Around 50,000 flowers of different varieties of marigold, a winter flower, has been displayed, which have not only brought colors and floral scent, but will help improve the ecosystem too.”

International Welfare Division of the Dawat-e-Islami religious group FRGF, Faizan Relief Group partnered with the KMC, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to bring this exhibition to the public.

Muhammad Kamran, the director of FGRF, said:

“White marigold was especially brought to the park, despite the fact that it was not a native flower and its production was the toughest job. We sowed 20,000 seeds of white marigold and only 500 plants could be produced. And the collection of the seasonal flower, which lasts for just 3-4 months, would be taken to Shahrah-e-Faisal thoroughfare and parks of the city after the festival was over, so that more people could see it and feel motivated to help improve the environment. This is a winter flower and it brings honeybees and flies. These in turn bring birds, which we have lost due to climate change. The presence of these flowers in the city is essential for our ecosystem. This exhibition is meant for awareness and protecting our environment.”
