Angelina Jolie, who made her Instagram appearance last week with a post about the Afghan refugee influx, has created a short film for the BBC to highlight the suffering of adolescent Afghan women.

The Hollywood A-lister shared the clip with her 10 million+ Instagram followers, adding, “Afghan Girls: An Uncertain Future.” This is a film I made with the BBC’s @YaldaHakim for @BBCWorldService and @BBCNews — hopefully, the first of many.”

Jolie explained her idea for the series of films, saying that while she isn’t a reporter by trade, it has always been her desire “to put light on issues pertaining to youngsters and to assist them.”

The movie depicts the distorted faces of young Afghan girls while explaining the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan and how it may affect the lives of women and children in the region. Jolie continues, “I believe no woman should be compelled to conceal, yet the BBC has opted to cover their photos to safeguard their identities for their safety.” The BBC has ultimate editorial clearance overall editorial content that appears under its name, as it does overall editorial content that appears under its name.”

“We believe that by creating these videos about people under the age of 25 caught up in global conflicts, we can link young people to each other and to the larger topics that impact them,” she said.

Jolie joined Instagram on August 20 and made a comment on the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan earlier that week.

Days after the Taliban ousted the Afghan parliament in the aftermath of the US military withdrawal from the region, the Maleficent actress took to Instagram to share a letter she got from an Afghan kid.

“Right now, the people of Afghanistan are losing their capacity to interact on social media and openly express themselves,” she said, adding, “so I’ve come on Instagram to share their experiences and the perspectives of those across the world struggling for their fundamental basic privileges.”
