Pakistan’s leading OTT platform, Tapmad, has signed a strategic partnership with Grameenphone, one of Bangladesh’s top telecommunications operators, to bring premium sports streaming services to Bangladeshi audiences.
Under this partnership, Grameenphone users can now access Tapmad’s extensive sports catalog — including live coverage of the English Premier League, Asia Cup, MMA, PFL, and upcoming international cricket tours — through the MyGP app, the Tapmad app, or the Tapmad website. Users can activate subscriptions using their mobile balance, with weekly and monthly packages tailored to local preferences.
Tapmad CEO Yassir Pasha described the collaboration as “a significant step in extending Tapmad’s footprint beyond Pakistan,” adding that the company is excited to deliver its world-class sports streaming experience to Bangladesh.
Ramiz Ahmed Soomro, Tapmad’s VOD head, highlighted that rights management, privacy, and capital were major challenges in the OTT sector. He emphasized Tapmad’s focus on providing an ad-free, sports-centered experience and promoting sports culture in Pakistan. The platform has also produced original sports-based content, including a series to revive interest in hockey.
Grameenphone’s Head of Digital Platform, Payment & Partnership, Zahiduz Zaman, said the partnership aligns with the telecom giant’s goal of offering next-generation digital experiences. Aly Rana, Tapmad’s COO, called Bangladesh a “fast-growing market,” adding that the aim is to provide “an international streaming experience that feels local.”
Currently, the partnership covers only sports content in Bangladesh, but both companies hinted at expanding the collaboration in the future.
