SSC is concerned about the exorbitant increase in toll tax on the Islamabad Lahore motorway [M2]

The Senate Standing Committee on Communications raised worries over an exorbitant increase in toll tax on the Islamabad Lahore motorway (M2).

Congressperson Kamil Ali Agha took up an issue of an increment in cost charge on Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2). He asked how NHA can expand the cost charge from Rs.160 to Rs. 910 in only a couple of years.

NHA Member Planning and Design Asim Amin educated the board of trustees that the public authority gives cash improvement advances to the NHA for PSDP projects and at present, NHA is under a debt of about Rs. 2.3 trillion.

He said that the authority needs about Rs. 70 billion for the upkeep of 13000 km long street organization yet it gathers an absolute income of Rs. 35 billion yearly.

He said the public authority had given Islamabad-Lahore Motorway to a private firm on Public-Private Partnership mode in 2016 for a very long time as there was a necessity of about Rs. 40 billion to restore this motorway yet the public authority couldn’t give the assets.

Congressperson Kamil Ali Agha said that different subtleties ought to be shared with regards to how much cost charge is gathered from Lahore-Islamabad Motorway alone.
