The train, which had departed from Lahore at 7:30 AM, was carrying several coaches, and the railway authorities quickly worked to arrange alternative travel routes for the affected passengers.

Following the derailment, CEO of Railways Aamir Ali Baloch ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident. A relief train was dispatched to clear the railway tracks and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.

Alternative Travel Arrangements
For the stranded passengers, alternate routes were quickly established:
- Passengers aboard seven coaches were rerouted via Sheikhupura to Wazirabad and Sangla Hill.
- The remaining eight coaches were rerouted to Sahiwal and Khanewal via Lahore.
Additionally, another Shalimar Express train was prepared at Khanewal to resume the Karachi-bound journey, while the Karakoram Express, coming from Karachi, was stopped at Sheikhupura and diverted to Lahore via Sangla Hill and Wazirabad.
Railway Operations Affected
The incident caused a temporary disruption in train services, with several routes affected:
- Trains from Karachi to Lahore were diverted via Wazirabad to avoid the affected area.
- A relief train was sent from Lahore to help clear the tracks and transfer passengers back to Lahore Railway Station for further travel.
In response to the incident, a passenger train coming from Jaranwala was halted at Missan Kalar Railway Station to prevent further disruptions.
