Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha has established a new benchmark for strike rate in T20 International cricket. During the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, Agha scored a rapid 45 runs off just 12 balls, achieving a strike rate of 375.0.
Record-Breaking Innings
Agha’s innings included five boundaries and three sixes, setting a new record for the highest strike rate by a T20I captain who has faced at least 10 balls against Full Member teams. This performance surpassed the previous record held by West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, who scored 38 runs off 11 balls at a strike rate of 345.5 in 2021 against Sri Lanka.
Other notable players such as Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, and Darren Sammy have also featured on the list of highest strike rates by captains, but Agha’s explosive knock now tops the chart.
Match Outcome and Series Status
Despite Agha’s remarkable effort, Sri Lanka managed to level the three-match T20I series by securing a 14-run victory via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. The match was affected by rain, reducing the playing time to 12 hours at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
Earlier in the series, Pakistan won the first T20I by six wickets, while the second match was abandoned without a ball bowled due to persistent rain.
