The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has announced plans to develop a nationwide online database of doctors and healthcare professionals to strengthen coordination, planning, and healthcare policymaking across the country.
According to official documents, the PM&DC has begun collecting updated information from medical practitioners, requesting them to provide details of their current workplaces, affiliated hospitals, and colleges. The aim is to create a centralized and reliable digital record of all registered doctors in Pakistan.
Officials said the move will help assess the distribution and availability of healthcare professionals, ensuring more equitable allocation of medical resources nationwide. It will also streamline communication between healthcare institutions and support rapid coordination during public health emergencies.
The PM&DC emphasized that the compiled data will be crucial for evidence-based health policy-making and improving the overall quality of medical services in Pakistan.
