Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Friday announced a one-week extension to the deadline for submitting bids for the two new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, citing strong and growing interest from investors across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, and other regions.
In a post on X, Mohsin said the original deadline of December 15 has now been extended to December 22, 2025, to accommodate a surge in investor inquiries. He added that the PCB is encouraged by the global response to the league’s expansion plans.
The announcement coincided with a high-profile PSL promotional roadshow in New York City, held on the same day. The event featured several current Pakistan international cricketers, including T20 captain Salman Ali Agha, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood, and Saud Shakeel, alongside PSL legends Wasim Akram and Ramiz Raja, and renowned singer Ali Zafar.
The New York roadshow followed a similar promotional event at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London last week. These international roadshows are part of PCB’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment and global partners ahead of the PSL’s expansion to eight teams for its 11th edition in 2026.
The inclusion of two new franchises will mark the PSL’s first major expansion since 2018, when Multan Sultans joined the league as the sixth team. Once the bidding process concludes, the PCB is expected to move quickly toward the auction of the new teams.
Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, has repeatedly stressed his commitment to transparent bidding processes, infrastructure upgrades, and raising the PSL’s international profile.
The expansion is widely viewed as a significant step toward boosting the league’s commercial value, competitiveness, and global presence on the international T20 circuit.
