Pakistan achieved a historic milestone on Wednesday as it received its first-ever shipment of US crude oil at Cnergyico’s offshore terminal in Balochistan. The Suezmax vessel MT Pegasus delivered the cargo to Cnergyico’s Single Point Mooring (SPM) port, the country’s only offshore crude handling facility.
Cnergyico Vice Chairman Usama Qureshi hailed the development as a landmark for both Pakistan’s energy diversification and trade relations with the United States. He confirmed that two additional shipments are expected — one in mid-November and another in January 2026 — which together are projected to improve Pakistan’s trade balance with the US by around $200 million.
Qureshi added that the SPM terminal enables efficient handling of large vessels, lowers logistics costs, and enhances refinery operations. He emphasized that these imports will not only diversify Pakistan’s crude sources but also strengthen bilateral energy cooperation and long-term energy security.
In 2023, Cnergyico made headlines for importing Pakistan’s first private-sector shipment of Russian crude oil, showcasing its strategy to expand and balance global energy partnerships.
