The Executive Committee of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG) conducted its inaugural virtual meeting with the Working Group on Azerbaijan-Pakistan Inter-Parliamentary Relations on Thursday. The gathering aimed to enhance parliamentary collaboration and strengthen ties between the two allied nations.

Opening Remarks Emphasize Strong Bilateral Bonds

Kamaladdin Gafarov opened the meeting by underscoring the enduring friendship, brotherhood, and solidarity shared by Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent support for Azerbaijan and praised the firm position of the Pakistani government and its people. Gafarov also highlighted recent high-level and parliamentary engagements as evidence of the robust and evolving relationship between the countries.

Commitment to Expanding Parliamentary and Institutional Cooperation

Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Convener of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan PFG, reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to reinforcing parliamentary and institutional connections with Azerbaijan. He stressed the pivotal role of parliamentarians in advancing cooperation across trade, economy, culture, education, youth involvement, and people-to-people exchanges. Gillani called for regular parliamentary dialogues and consistent follow-up to secure meaningful progress.

He also spotlighted the recent launch of the Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, developed in partnership with Azerbaijan. The specialized training provided under Azerbaijan’s Asaan Khidmat Centre model was recognized as a symbol of the strong bilateral relations.

Discussion on Broadening Cooperation Areas

Participants from both sides exchanged perspectives on expanding collaboration in sectors such as trade, agriculture, tourism, education, research, and youth exchange programs. They emphasized the significance of dialogue, mutual learning, and parliamentary diplomacy in nurturing a sustainable partnership.

Ambassadors Highlight Positive Diplomatic Momentum

Ambassadors representing both countries noted the encouraging progress in bilateral relations and highlighted the constructive influence of parliamentary exchanges in strengthening diplomatic ties.

Conclusion: Renewed Commitment to Strengthen Relations

The meeting concluded with a mutual reaffirmation to deepen Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations through enhanced parliamentary engagement, closer coordination, and ongoing collaboration in areas of shared interest.
