Pakistan and Malaysia have agreed to enhance bilateral military cooperation, particularly in air force training and operational collaboration, following a meeting between Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Royal Malaysian Air Force Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Mohd Asghar Khan bin Goriman Khan at Air Headquarters in Islamabad on November 21, 2024.

In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Air Chief reaffirmed the PAF’s commitment to expanding the military partnership through joint training initiatives. These will include providing both basic and tactical-level training to Malaysian Air Force personnel.

Malaysian Air Chief Praises PAF’s Innovation

Making his first visit to Pakistan, the Malaysian Air Chief commended the PAF’s achievements in indigenization and technological advancement. He expressed enthusiasm for strengthening ties in areas such as training, maintenance, and operational excellence, further cementing the robust defense relationship between the two nations.

The discussions also explored opportunities for defense cooperation, joint exercises, and technology sharing, reflecting a mutual commitment to bolstering regional security and operational capabilities.

Visits to Strategic Facilities

During his stay, the Malaysian official visited key PAF facilities, including the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park Silicon and the PAF Cyber Command, where he was briefed on Pakistan’s cutting-edge operational capabilities. Additionally, he applauded the innovative projects showcased at the International Defense Exhibition IDEAS-2024, currently being held in Karachi.

Honoring Diplomatic and Military Relations

The Malaysian Air Chief was presented with a guard of honor upon arrival, symbolizing the strong diplomatic and military ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. This visit underscores the shared commitment of both nations to fostering cooperation in defense and air power, marking a significant step in strengthening their strategic partnership.
