In a powerful display of resolve and strategic readiness, Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed on Monday stated that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) responded with “boldness and confidence” to Indian military aggression, thwarting attempts to redefine cross-border dynamics.
Speaking at a high-profile press briefing in Rawalpindi, alongside DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif and Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, AVM Aurangzeb emphasized that the PAF’s actions were “deliberate, measured, and effective”, signaling Pakistan’s unwavering stance on airspace sovereignty and peace through strength.
“Our response was based on our own timing and choice. The leadership was clear and gave us firm instructions,” Aurangzeb asserted, underscoring the calculated nature of the PAF’s operation.
He revealed that Pakistan launched its largest coordinated strike on Indian Air Force (IAF) airfields since the 1971 war, achieving maximum operational impact without inflicting civilian casualties. The targeted airfields significantly disrupted Indian air capability along the western sector, particularly grounding India’s Rafale jets during the opening phase.
Strategic Doctrine & Leadership
Aurangzeb credited Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar as the architect of the counter-operation. According to him, the Chief gave the PAF a clear three-part mission:
- Restore deterrence
- Neutralize emerging threats
- Assert air dominance
This vision guided the successful execution of Pakistan’s air defense response, reinforcing the military’s readiness posture.
“Pakistan remains committed to protecting its airspace and promoting peace through strength,” Aurangzeb emphasized, echoing a policy of deterrence over escalation.
Drone Warfare & Air Defense Mastery
The Air Vice Marshal also disclosed that India had attempted drone strikes on civilian targets within Pakistan, but all unmanned systems were intercepted, jammed, and neutralized by PAF’s sophisticated radar and electronic warfare systems.
“Our counter-drone systems rendered their UAVs useless. This proves our readiness and technological edge,” he added.
Regional Implications
Military analysts view the response as a strategic deterrence signal, aimed at preventing India from normalizing cross-border skirmishes as a part of routine policy. The operation’s success, especially in its precision and restraint, has drawn comparisons to prior high-stakes encounters where Pakistan managed to assert control without escalating into full-scale conflict.
The press conference also reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security leadership remains united across branches in defending its territorial integrity. The joint appearance by PAF, ISPR, and the Navy underscored inter-service coordination and operational synergy.
