YouTube has introduced a new avenue for creators to monetize their content, resembling TikTok’s revenue model for short videos.
Referred to as a “series album,” creators have control over pricing, ranging from $1 to $190 per album view. Notably, TikTok does not claim a portion of the revenue generated from series albums, but users must pay a fee to participate in the series program.
YouTube’s announcement comes amid impressive viewership figures, with its shorts videos accumulating an astonishing 70 billion views daily. Additionally, a quarter of channels within YouTube’s partner program are taking advantage of the monetization potential of shorts. This initiative underscores YouTube’s dedication to nurturing a thriving creator ecosystem and leveraging the growing popularity of short-form video content.
