Nida Usman Chaudhry, a Pakistani lawyer, has received Austria’s renowned Justitia Award 2021 in the Academic (international) category. The prize is presented to female legal laureates who have excelled in their careers.
Nida has been working for ‘Women in Law,’ a project she started in Pakistan in 2016. The group promotes gender equality and links female attorneys in Pakistan.
Nida shared the news on Twitter, writing, “The #JustitiaAward Vienna 2021 Laureate for Academia (International) returns home!!!” Yaay! I’m overjoyed. This would not have been possible without the help of my coworkers at @WomenInLawPk. This should be recognized as our joint accomplishment in bringing our efforts to the international stage.”
The worldwide forum chose 80 women attorneys from 17 countries, with 12 of them being shortlisted for the prize in July of this year.
She is South Asia’s sole recipient of the award.
