The Sindh cabinet rejected the transport ministry’s plan to raise the cost of the Peoples Bus Service on Thursday.

The plan was rejected by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who presided over the cabinet meeting. He stated that the PPP-led provincial administration did not want to burden the poor with higher bus prices. Moreover, the Sindh cabinet approved spending Rs 2 billion to purchase additional Peoples Transport Service buses.

The Sindh government now runs the Peoples Bus Service (PBS) in Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur, hence it is vital to highlight this.

In June of last year, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari introduced the bus service for the first time in Karachi. In Karachi, the bus service is now available along five different routes, though additional routes are being considered.

The “first-ever” Pink Peoples Bus Service in the nation was introduced by the Sindh government on February 1 in Karachi. This service is only for women.

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transportation, recently unveiled new Pink People’s Bus Service routes in Karachi. The transport minister tweeted that the Sindh government had decided to add two new routes to Karachi’s Pink People’s Bus Service beginning March 1.
