Matco Foods Limited, one of Pakistan’s leading rice exporters and a major player in the food processing sector, has taken a significant strategic step by transferring its spice and masala packaging segment to its wholly owned subsidiary, Falak Foods (Private) Limited. The company officially disclosed the development through a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Monday.

According to the statement, the listed company executed a Business Transfer Agreement on November 17, 2025, effectively carving out and shifting the spice/masala packaging operations—previously operating under the brand Falak Foods—to the subsidiary.

The notice stated:

“We are pleased to inform you that further to our earlier disclosure dated May 9, 2025, we have executed a Business Transfer Agreement… pursuant to which the spice/masala packaging segment of Matco Foods Limited under the brand of ‘Falak Foods’ has been carved out and transferred to Falak Foods (Private) Limited.”

Industrial Expansion Boost

In another announcement filed the same day, Matco Foods informed stakeholders that the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development & Management Company (FIEDMC) has allotted the company a 13.21-acre plot in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Allama Iqbal Industrial City.

The new allotment is strategically located next to Matco’s existing corn starch facility, enabling seamless expansion and integrated operations.

Restructuring Strategy Continues

Earlier in May, Matco Foods approved a major corporate restructuring plan involving its corn starch division. Under the approved plan, the company would transfer the corn starch business to its wholly owned subsidiary, Matco Corn Products (Private) Limited (MCPPL). In exchange, MCPPL will issue shares to its parent company.

This move—along with the latest transfer of the spice division—indicates Matco’s long-term strategy of separating key business units into focused subsidiaries to enhance operational efficiency and attract future investment.

Company Background

Founded in 1964 as Matco Rice Processing Private Limited, the company has grown into one of Pakistan’s most diversified agri-food exporters. Matco Foods is engaged in producing and exporting:

  • Rice
  • Rice glucose
  • Rice protein
  • Pink salt
  • Condiments and spices
  • Dessert mixes

Today, Matco is recognized as one of Pakistan’s top rice exporters, distributing its flagship brand Falak to over 65 countries worldwide.
