Former Uruguay international striker Luis Suárez has signed a new contract with Inter Miami for the upcoming Major League Soccer (MLS) season, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
Suárez, who will turn 39 in January, initially joined Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami side in 2024 and has since played a pivotal role in the club’s historic rise. His experience and leadership proved instrumental as Inter Miami clinched the 2025 MLS Cup and the Eastern Conference Championship, marking the club’s third and fourth major titles.
“Suárez signs a new contract after recently concluding the historic 2025 season for what was his second year at the club,” Inter Miami said in an official statement.
The club highlighted the striker’s influence beyond domestic success, noting that Inter Miami also enjoyed a strong international campaign. The team reached the round of 16 at the revamped 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, further establishing itself on the global stage.
During the 2025 season, Suárez made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists. His total of 34 goal contributions underlined his continued effectiveness despite his age.
Suárez, one of football’s most decorated forwards, enjoyed a glittering European career with Barcelona, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid. He won the UEFA Champions League, La Liga titles, and the League Cup, cementing his status as one of the game’s elite strikers.
Inter Miami expressed confidence that Suárez’s presence will continue to be vital as the club looks to build on its recent success in the upcoming season.
