Due to security threats, the city district administration has instructed all schools and colleges along the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally route to close by 12 p.m. today.

Prior to the PTI rally on Sunday, Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa issued an order ordering businesses on the city’s Ring Road to close at noon. The party plans to host an election rally that will travel from Data Darbar to Zaman Park.

The Imran Khan-led party had already been denied permission by the local government to hold an election-related rally in the capital of Punjab twice in the previous week.

The PTI leadership presented an affidavit in a meeting called Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in which they promised to fully cooperate with the government, the police, and the security personnel.

The previous ruling party likewise gave the authorities its word that it would comply with the relevant law regarding the use of the sound system. The PTI agreed that speeches critical of the state’s institutions and the judiciary would not be permitted at the event.

The affidavit stated that the PTI would be liable if any demands for the public property were made during the event.

Imran Khan, who was removed from office after losing a vote of no confidence on April 9 of last year, postponed his election rally earlier in the day because the interim government wouldn’t suspend Section 144.

Imtiaz Shaikh, the president of the PTI Lahore Chapter, has announced that a rally will leave Zaman Park for Data Darbar at 2:00 PM today.

He declared, “Imran Khan will address the rally. Khan was organising the party from his Zaman Park home in the capital of Punjab; this would be his first rally in more than four months. The PTI director had been recuperating at home from an ailment he sustained a year ago.

On November 3, Khan was leading a protest march to Islamabad in an effort to pressure the government into calling an early election when he was wounded in the legs while waving to supporters from a truck-mounted container; however, the march was stopped in Rawalpindi.

The general elections in Punjab are scheduled to be held on April 30, while the date for the polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to be announced as Governor Ghulam Ali has not made a decision yet.
