If motor vehicle registration was cumbersome in the past, it won’t be anymore as the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is all set to launch a mobile application to simplify the process.
In order to make life easier for consumers, the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department plans to introduce a smartphone application that will streamline automobile registration.
According to DG Excise, the new computerised application will be introduced gradually tomorrow. “Data of the vehicle and its owner can now be better protected,” he said.
“An excise official will personally visit the owner for vehicle registration,” he added, adding that the owner’s original file and intelligent card would be handed to their home.
Meanwhile, cash payment of motor vehicle tax has been phased out. All payments can now be made via bank or telecom channels.
