Singer Humaira Arshad has voiced strong criticism against Pakistan Idol for appointing judges “with no background in music,” calling the move disrespectful to professional musicians. She argued that only those deeply rooted in the art should evaluate singers. Arshad pointed out the absurdity of having actors or non-musicians judge singing competitions and lamented the exclusion of musical legends like Ghulam Ali and Taranum Naz.
Interestingly, actor Fawad Khan, one of the judges mentioned, has a solid musical background as the former lead vocalist of the acclaimed band Entity Paradigm (EP), which gained fame after Pepsi Battle of the Bands in 2002 and later appeared in Coke Studio Season 3. Khan performed in over 250 live shows before shifting his focus to acting in 2012, showing that his credentials in music are far from superficial.
