The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a directive to students who wish to resume their education in China after a hiatus of several months, to register online.

At the request of Chinese authorities, the HEC has sought fresh information from the students. Students are advised to submit their information through an online form before 21 July 2022.

Last month, the first group of Pakistani students who had returned to the country due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus completed their travel to China to resume their education.

A flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines left from New Islamabad International Airport, carrying approximately 100 students bound for Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province in central China.

The Chinese government sent thousands of Pakistani students enrolled in Chinese universities back to their home country at the peak of the Coronavirus outbreak in China.

These students had been studying in China when the outbreak began, and were not allowed to return to China to resume their education after the outbreak had begun to subside.

The Chinese government’s decision to keep these students out of the country for over two years has been met with criticism from the Pakistani government and the students’ families.
