The government has started a survey on national level to enroll poor people in its Ehsaas social protection programme.

An official of the Poverty Allevation and Social Safety Division has confirmed that around seven million individuals are registered in the Ehsaas Kafalat program, who are getting monthly Rs200o stipends each.

A door-to-door digital survey has been started to find out more deserving people who are living below the poverty line till June 2021.

The Ehsaas Programme includes Ehsaas Kafalat which provides monthly cash stipends of Rs2000 each for 7 million poor households, 50,000 merit-based scholarships awarded to the poor and needy students every year, 80,000 Ehsaas interest-free loans are disbursed to the small businesses every month, and also quarterly conditional cash transfers for primary school-going children.
