5.91 Million Citizens Registered Under PM's Fuel Relief Scheme: Shaza Fatima

Federal IT and Telecommunication Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said around 5.91 million citizens had registered under the Prime Minister's Fuel Relief Scheme since its launch, addressing a news conference alongside Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani. She said over 6.18 million fuel relief tokens had been generated, of which 4.79 million had been successfully redeemed.

Key Changes Made After Public Feedback

The government has removed the five-litre limit for motorcycles, rickshaws, and Qingqi following public feedback, and the ownership requirement has also been removed for motorcycle and rickshaw users operating rented vehicles.

24/7 Monitoring in Place

A round-the-clock control room at the IT Ministry is monitoring the scheme's implementation from registration through redemption, focusing on transparency and timely issue resolution. Citizens facing difficulties can call 9771 or visit pmfuelrelief.pk. The minister said provincial administrations hold roughly three monitoring meetings daily, and she personally visited petrol stations to observe implementation.

Payments and Outreach

Fatima thanked petrol pump dealers, oil marketing companies, and OGRA for facilitating the scheme, adding that petrol pumps are being paid within a 24-hour cycle. She said the government is running awareness campaigns and monitoring stations through a live GIS map, and noted very few registrations involve motorcycles registered before 2006.
