The 15th Vintage and Classic Car Show, held at the Peshawar Services Club on Saturday, showcased over 50 heritage automobiles dating from 1935 to 1980, captivating car enthusiasts and families alike. The event, organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in collaboration with Classic Land Rover, attracted participants from major cities across Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Peshawar.

The exhibition featured an impressive lineup of iconic vehicles, including renowned brands such as Mercedes, Jaguar, Ford, Chevrolet, Mini, Land Rover, Mustang, Porsche, and vintage Vespa motorcycles.

In addition to admiring the stunning automobiles, visitors were treated to a vibrant display of local culture. Traditional performances of the Khattak dance, characterized by its energetic movements and swordplay, enthralled the audience. The soulful tunes of the rubab, a centuries-old stringed instrument native to the region, further enriched the cultural experience.

Speaking at the event, KPCTA Director General Tashfeen Haider emphasized the importance of such gatherings in promoting Peshawar as a cultural and tourism hub. “We are committed to organizing more events like this and plan to expand future exhibitions to historical sites,” Haider said.

The event aimed to send a message of peace and rejuvenation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a region that has endured years of conflict. “Our goal is to restore Peshawar’s image as a city of flowers and joy,” the KPCTA official added.

Following the Peshawar exhibition, participants will embark on a journey to Swabi, where they will join the 12th Indus River Cross Jeep Race at the historic Hund point on the Indus River. The route will take them through significant landmarks such as Balahissar Fort, before continuing on a cross-country adventure through Faisalabad, Rahim Yar Khan, Moro, and the Thar Desert, culminating in Karachi.

The event was well-received by attendees, who praised the organizers for bringing such a vibrant and unique experience to Peshawar. The combination of classic cars and cultural performances provided a memorable outing for all visitors, highlighting both the rich heritage and the promising future of the region.
