Azam Swati, a senator for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was taken into custody by the Balochistan Police in connection with the investigation into the controversial tweets.

Azam Swati, a senator for the PTI, was reportedly brought to Quetta by the Balochistan Police and would be held there in kuchlak jail, according to sources.

Azam Swati, a senator for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had previously made an arrest request to the Balochistan police. He had already asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to combine all of the proceedings against him.

According to the plea, PTI senator Azam Swati was detained on spurious charges. Numerous other cases against him in Pakistan were filed after the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) case.

The petitioner added that because of security reasons all the cases against the PTI leader should be clubbed in Islamabad. It is pertinent to mention here that Swati was arrested for the second time in the same case over a month after he secured post-arrest bail from a court in the capital city.

“The charge of instigation for sedition requires more inquiry under the relevant clauses,” the court had observed in a written judgment.
