In welcoming news, the popular video-sharing platform TikTok will also open a liaison office in Pakistan. The development comes after tech-giant is ready to open its first liaison in Pakistan.

According to the details, TikTok has decided to open a liaison office in Pakistan, as stated by IT and Telecom Minister Syed Aminul Haque. Since TikTok has become one of the most well-liked social media sites in the nation, this is definitely a positive development.

Due to the distribution of unethical content, TikTok has also been the target of various bans; however, these bans were lifted after ongoing communication with TikTok management. TikTok will work more closely with the Pakistani authorities if it opens an office there.

“TikTok will soon set up its office in Pakistan. Companies remain reluctant due to the lack of trust and inconsistent policies,” the IT Minister said to the media while maintaining that his ministry will offer complete support to foreign companies.

Google coming to Pakistan

On the other hand, while TikTok has agreed to open an office in Pakistan, Google has already taken a lead in this regard and the company has already been registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Karachi registry.

In order to be clear, the Removals and Blocking of Illegal Online Content (Procedure, Oversight and Safeguards) Rules 2021 state that registration is the first step in the setup of the office.

“A delegation of Google is scheduled to come to Pakistan early next week from Singapore and the company will likely announce the establishment of a functional office here,” the IT Minister said.

The IT minister has recently expressed confidence that more social media platforms will establish their offices in Pakistan.
