Zindigi Partners With UK’s nsave to Make Cross-Border Payments Easier for Pakistani Freelancers

Zindigi, the digital banking platform powered by JS Bank, has entered into a partnership with UK-based fintech nsave aimed at making international remittances faster, simpler, and considerably more affordable for freelancers and individuals across Pakistan.

Building a Borderless Banking Experience

The partnership marks another milestone in Zindigi’s broader mission to build what it describes as a borderless banking experience, one that connects Pakistan more directly with the global financial ecosystem. The initiative also aligns closely with the State Bank of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote inward international remittances for individuals and freelancers, positioning this collaboration as a meaningful step toward expanding financial inclusion and supporting the country’s growing digital economy.

For nsave, this partnership represents the latest step in its ongoing engagement with Pakistan’s financial ecosystem, as the company continues building long-term infrastructure specifically designed to help the country’s freelancers and remote workers compete on a global stage.

Cutting Out the Fees That Erode Freelancer Income

At the core of this partnership is a fairly straightforward value proposition: nsave enables Pakistanis to receive funds from abroad in US dollars completely free of charge, and then move that money into their Zindigi account at no additional cost, converted at what the companies describe as the best available PKR rate on the market.

This matters considerably for freelancers being paid by overseas clients, a group that has historically lost a meaningful chunk of their income to transfer fees and unfavourable exchange rates. According to the companies, these combined costs have typically eroded cross-border freelancer income by anywhere between 5 and 10 percent, a substantial bite out of earnings for people already working in a competitive global freelance marketplace.

How the Service Will Work

As part of the initial rollout phase, users will soon be able to receive international transfers directly into their local Zindigi accounts within minutes, positioning this as one of the fastest and most affordable ways currently available to access funds sent from abroad. Because the funds arrive in USD and get converted at a market-leading PKR rate, users are expected to retain considerably more of every payment they receive, with no fees charged either for receiving the transfer or for moving it into their Zindigi account.

What Comes Next: Expanding the Freelancer Toolkit

Beyond this initial phase, the partnership is designed to lay the groundwork for further innovations aimed specifically at Pakistan’s rapidly growing freelancer community. In the next stage of the rollout, users will be able to seamlessly create and link nsave accounts directly through the Zindigi app, simplifying access to broader international banking services and making it considerably easier for freelancers to receive payments from clients located anywhere in the world.

Freelancers and remote workers using nsave through Zindigi are also expected to gain access to a wider suite of financial services down the line, including the ability to invest in the US stock market, hold a dedicated EUR/GBP account, and use an international USD card, tools intended to help them manage and grow their earnings without the usual constraints tied to operating primarily within Pakistan’s domestic banking system.

Why This Matters for Pakistan’s Freelance Economy

Zindigi’s Chief Officer, Noman Azhar, framed the partnership as part of a broader philosophy around financial inclusion. He said that at Zindigi, financial inclusion isn’t just about banking access, it’s about unlocking opportunities for people to grow, earn, and compete on a global scale.

Azhar noted that Pakistan is home to one of the world’s largest and most talented freelancer communities, yet many of these workers continue to face unnecessary barriers and high costs simply trying to receive payments for work they’ve already completed for overseas clients. He said the partnership with nsave is specifically designed to remove those barriers and build a more affordable, seamless, and accessible financial ecosystem for this growing segment of Pakistan’s workforce.

A Mission Bigger Than Payments

nsave Co-Founder Amer Baroudi offered a broader perspective on why this kind of infrastructure matters beyond simply moving money from one place to another. He explained that across underserved economies, hardworking people are often able to move money, but they struggle to preserve its value, and savings that quietly erode over time represent genuine opportunities lost.

Baroudi added that when people are able to protect the value of what they earn, they tend to spend more, invest more, and take on bigger risks, starting businesses, creating jobs, and better supporting their families in the process. That framing positions this partnership as something with implications that extend well beyond individual freelancer transactions, touching on broader questions of economic resilience and opportunity within Pakistan’s digital economy.

Part of a Broader Push for Financial Inclusion

This development fits into a broader pattern of growing fintech innovation aimed at Pakistan’s freelance and remote work sector, a segment of the economy that has expanded considerably in recent years as more Pakistanis have turned to platforms offering international freelance work as a source of income. Reducing the friction, fees, and delays historically associated with receiving international payments could meaningfully boost the earning potential of this workforce, while also supporting Pakistan’s broader remittance inflows at a time when the country continues to prioritise strengthening its foreign exchange position.

Looking Ahead

With the initial phase of the Zindigi-nsave partnership set to roll out receiving capabilities within minutes and at no cost, attention will likely turn next to how quickly the promised second phase, including in-app nsave account creation and expanded international banking services, actually materialises. For Pakistan’s freelancer community, a group that has long navigated costly, slow, and cumbersome international payment processes, this partnership offers a concrete step toward a more efficient and rewarding way to get paid for their work.
