Australia’s pace bowler Mitchell Starc has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for December, recognizing his exceptional performances during the recent Ashes series.

Outstanding Performances in December

Starc played a pivotal role in Australia’s 4-1 Ashes series win, taking 16 wickets at an average of 21.25 across three Test matches. Alongside his bowling, he amassed 139 runs, demonstrating his all-round capabilities.

  • Delivered a match-winning eight-wicket haul in the second Test at Brisbane.
  • Scored a crucial 77 runs in the same match, earning Player of the Match honors.
  • Added a valuable 54 runs in the series-deciding Test in Adelaide.

Competition and Reaction

Starc secured the award ahead of New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy and West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves. Reflecting on the achievement, Starc expressed his pride in contributing to a historic home Ashes series win.

He stated, “It’s an honour to be named the ICC Player of the Month, and even more special that it came on the back of such a successful home Ashes. To have played a part in winning such an iconic series in front of our home crowd is something we will all relish for a long time.”
