Sialkot PSL Franchise to Unveil Logo and President Today
The newly established Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise from Sialkot is set to announce its official team logo and the name of its president today, marking a significant step as the league expands.
Expansion of the PSL
Earlier this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) awarded the Sialkot franchise to OZ Developers, a company owned by Hamza Majeed. This addition brings the number of PSL teams to eight, up from six, ahead of the 2026 season scheduled between March 26 and May 3.
Kamil Khan, co-owner of the Sialkot team, shared insights during a press interaction in Lahore about the franchise’s ambitions and strategic plans.
Franchise Vision and Strategy
- Clear Vision: Sialkot entered the franchise auction with a focused and ambitious plan for the future of the team.
- Competitive Team Building: The management aims to recruit top international players to strengthen the squad for the upcoming PSL season.
- Local Talent Development: Alongside international talent, the team plans to lean on a skilled local coaching staff to nurture regional players.
Fan Engagement and Rivalries
Khan expressed optimism about the continued popularity of the PSL, emphasizing that fans will support matches enthusiastically regardless of venue location.
He also highlighted the friendly yet competitive rivalry between Sialkot and Lahore Qalandars as a key fixture fans can look forward to.
“Matches against Lahore Qalandars will be exciting — competitive on the field, yet bonded through friendship off it,” Khan remarked.
Collaborative Decision-Making
Key franchise decisions will be made in close coordination with the Pakistan Cricket Board to ensure alignment with league goals and standards.
Looking Ahead
The introduction of the Sialkot franchise is anticipated to inject new enthusiasm into the PSL, supporting the league’s growth and strengthening Pakistan’s cricketing landscape.
Kamil Khan remains confident in the PSL’s potential, stating, “The PSL continues to evolve as a leading platform for cricket in Pakistan and will only grow stronger.”
