Haris Rauf Suspended for Two ODIs After Multiple ICC Code of Conduct Breaches

Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been suspended for two One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against South Africa after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the 2025 Asia Cup. The suspension came after Rauf accumulated four demerit points within 24 months, triggering an automatic two-match ban under ICC regulations.

The disciplinary action stems from two separate incidents during Pakistan’s matches against India in the Asia Cup. On September 14, Rauf was found guilty of conduct that brought the game into disrepute after responding to crowd provocation with an inappropriate gesture. He was fined 30% of his match fee and handed two demerit points. Later, during the Asia Cup final on September 28, he repeated a similar act and received another fine along with two more demerit points, bringing his total to four.

According to the ICC’s disciplinary system, four demerit points equate to two suspension points, resulting in Rauf’s exclusion from Pakistan’s opening two ODIs against South Africa, scheduled for November 4 and 6, 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will now have to rework its pace strategy for the upcoming series, potentially giving younger bowlers a chance to step up.

This decision serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining professionalism and composure on the field, especially during high-pressure matches. While Haris Rauf remains a key player in Pakistan’s bowling lineup, his absence will test the team’s depth and discipline ahead of crucial international fixtures.
