Microsoft has announced a major upgrade to its Copilot AI assistant for Windows 11, introducing features that make it more powerful and user-friendly. The update allows users to activate Copilot using the voice command “Hey Copilot,” enabling hands-free interaction through an opt-in feature on any Windows 11 device.

The tech giant is also expanding Copilot Vision, a feature that analyzes on-screen content to answer questions and provide context-based assistance, across all regions where Copilot is available. A new option for Windows Insiders will let users interact with Vision via text in addition to voice.

In a step toward deeper integration, Microsoft unveiled Copilot Actions, an experimental mode that allows the AI to perform real-world tasks—like booking restaurant reservations or ordering groceries—directly from the desktop. The company emphasized that the feature will operate with limited permissions, requiring user consent for each task.

Additionally, Microsoft launched a Gaming Copilot for Xbox Ally consoles, offering players real-time gaming support, tips, and recommendations powered by AI.

Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s Chief Consumer Marketing Officer, said the updates mark a new phase for AI integration: “We think we’re on the cusp of the next evolution, where AI becomes naturally embedded into the hundreds of millions of experiences people use every day.”

These updates reinforce Microsoft’s aggressive push to make Copilot a key player in the competitive AI landscape, rivaling products from Google and Meta.
