Afghanistan’s star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), surpassing New Zealand’s Tim Southee.

Rashid achieved this milestone during Afghanistan’s clash against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ongoing tri-nation series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. With a total of 165 wickets, he now leads the global charts for most wickets in T20I cricket.

The match also brought joy for Afghanistan as they secured their first victory in the series, defeating UAE by 38 runs. Rashid’s achievement further elevated the significance of the win, marking a proud moment for Afghan cricket fans worldwide.

The tri-nation series, hosted at Sharjah, features Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE. Afghanistan will next face Pakistan in the fourth match of the tournament, set to be played today. Pakistan earlier dominated Afghanistan with a 39-run victory in the opening fixture at the same venue.

Rashid Khan, renowned for his lethal spin and sharp variations, has been a cornerstone of Afghanistan cricket. His consistency, both in international matches and global T20 leagues, has made him one of the most respected bowlers in modern cricket. His latest feat cements his place among the legends of the shortest format.
