Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has warmly welcomed the landmark peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, signed during the White House Summit under the patronage of US President Donald Trump.

The accord, which seeks to end decades of hostilities in the South Caucasus, has been described by the Pakistani premier as the beginning of a “new era of peace, stability, and cooperation” in the war-ravaged region.

Message of Solidarity from Pakistan
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan, calling the agreement a “manifestation of wisdom and foresight.” He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for its “brotherly nation,” stating, “Pakistan has always stood with Azerbaijan, and we stand with them on this historic occasion as well.”

US Role in Brokering Peace
The Prime Minister praised US President Donald Trump’s role in facilitating the deal, which came after years of strained relations, military clashes, and unresolved disputes over Nagorno-Karabakh. He remarked that the accord could unlock “new opportunities for trade, connectivity, and regional integration” and lauded the effectiveness of White House-led diplomacy.

Hopes for Global Impact
Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that the spirit of dialogue and compromise demonstrated in these peace talks would inspire similar approaches to long-standing disputes in other parts of the world. Pakistan, he added, views this achievement not only as a diplomatic triumph for Azerbaijan and Armenia but also as a testament to the power of persistent negotiations and international mediation in transforming deep-rooted conflicts into pathways for progress.
