PCB Denies Jason Gillespie’s Unpaid Dues Allegation

Lahore – 22 April 2025:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly rejected allegations made by former red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, who claimed he was not paid for nine months of his contractual compensation. Gillespie, a former Australian cricketer, made the claim in a recent interview, accusing the PCB of defaulting on payments after his departure.

In response, a PCB spokesperson clarified that Gillespie had resigned from his position without serving the required four-month notice period, as stipulated in his contract. The board emphasized that both parties were fully aware of the contract terms, which included the mandatory notice period in the event of early termination.

“The former red-ball head coach of the national team resigned suddenly without giving a four-month notice,” the PCB stated. “The contract clearly outlined this requirement, and Jason Gillespie was fully informed of his obligations under the agreement.”

Calling Gillespie’s claim of unpaid dues “baseless,” the PCB maintained that no payments are due under the breach-of-contract circumstances. The board also hinted at the possibility of seeking legal counsel if the matter escalates further publicly.

The dispute highlights ongoing tensions between foreign coaches and cricket boards in South Asia, often revolving around contract enforcement and communication issues. PCB officials reiterated their commitment to transparency and professionalism in contractual matters, noting that all terms are applied equally, regardless of nationality.
