Quetta Gladiators spinner Usman Tariq has been reported for a potentially illegal bowling action during a recent Pakistan Super League (PSL) match against the Lahore Qalandars. Umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Brown raised concerns about Tariq’s bowling technique during the game and subsequently submitted an official report to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Following the report, the PCB clarified that Tariq is still eligible to continue bowling in future matches. However, the board issued a warning, stating that if Tariq’s action is reported again, he would be suspended from bowling until he undergoes and clears testing from the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Biomechanics Laboratory.

This procedure follows standard cricketing protocols for players reported for suspect bowling actions in professional competitions. It allows players to address technical issues with their bowling action while remaining eligible to compete, as long as no further complaints are made.

Under the ICC’s regulations, bowlers are required to maintain legal actions that conform to biomechanical standards, with an arm straightening tolerance of no more than 15 degrees during delivery. If Tariq is required to undergo testing, the results will determine whether his action complies with these standards.

As of now, Quetta Gladiators management has not issued a public statement regarding Tariq’s reported action or any remedial steps they may take to address the issue.
