Islamabad – April 11, 2025

In a significant legal development, former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have filed petitions in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking an early hearing of their appeals in the £190 million case. The couple, represented by lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, argues that the delay in hearing their appeals is hindering the course of justice and that they are being subjected to political victimization.

The petitions contend that no substantial progress was made during the last hearing, and they stress the urgency of the matter, which could potentially affect the fairness and timeliness of the judicial process. The petitioners highlighted that further delays in addressing the appeals could lead to injustice and undermine their right to a prompt trial.

In a positive development, the Islamabad High Court has allotted a diary number to the appeals, suggesting that the case may soon be scheduled for a hearing. This move has raised hopes among Imran Khan’s legal team that the appeals will be heard and resolved in a timely manner.

The £190 million case concerns allegations involving financial misconduct and the transfer of significant funds during Imran Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister. The case has drawn substantial media attention, with supporters of the former premier claiming that the proceedings are politically motivated.

The legal team for Khan and Bushra Bibi argues that the delay in proceedings undermines their right to justice, and they are pushing for the court’s immediate intervention to ensure that the case is given the attention it deserves.

As the situation unfolds, the legal community and the public await a decision from the Islamabad High Court that could significantly impact the future of the PTI leadership and the political landscape of Pakistan.
