South Korea gets stunned by Pakistan in a historic Tekken showdown

South Korea dominated the competitive Tekken scene creating famous players and establishing international standards for the game. Korea was long regarded as invincible due to its legendary names, Knee, Ulsan, and JeonDDing as well as their unparalleled teamwork. But with the emergence of a fresh rival Pakistan things started to change.

It all began with Arslan Ash who upended the competitive Tekken scene by shocking the esports community by winning EVO Japan. That historic triumph was a sign that Pakistan was here to stay not a coincidence. The competition between the two countries has only been more intense since then. The conflict in Seoul reached a new crescendo this past weekend.

One definite winner after two epic battles

Round 1: Waseda Style: Korea 7-3, Pakistan

Waseda method, in which each team member competes against another in a one-on-one match, was used for the inaugural team combat.

Pakistan made a strong impression.

  • Hafiz Tanveer (Claudio) began by overcoming Knee (Bryan), the behemoth of Korea, 3-1.
  • In a clinical display, Numan (Steve) defeated Ulsan (Dragunov) 3-0.
  • Farzeen (Victor) and Usama Abbasi (Jun) defeated Mulgold and JeonDDing, respectively, while Arslan Ash (Nina) defeated Rangchu (Kuma) in a hard-fought victory.
  • Hafiz Tanveer made a triumphant comeback, defeating CBM (Jin) 3-0.
  • The round ended with Pakistan winning 7-3 after Numan Ch crushed Chanel (Zafina, Alisa) 3-0.

Unleashed Style Round 2: Korea 13-9 Pakistan

Round 2 was a full-scale invasion if Round 1 had been a warning. Each victory in this Unleashed Style team structure enables the winner to continue playing until they are vanquished.

  • With victories over Mulgold and JeonDDing, Hafiz Tanveer got off to a great start.
  • After that, TheJon (King) gave what was possibly the best performance of the event, ruthlessly and precisely sweeping CBM and Rangchu.
  • Through LowHigh and Mulgold, Korea struck back, eliminating important Pakistani players.
  • However, TheJon of Pakistan responded with a decisive victory over Knee.
  • Pakistan stayed strong during the recovery phase, when beaten Korean players returned.
  • Ulsan was once more destroyed by the Jon, and despite Korea’s resistance with JeonDDing and LowHigh,
  • After Farzeen’s crucial victory, Atif (Dragunov) completed the task by eliminating Mulgold and Rangchu to win 13–9.

A New Dynasty of Tekken?

What was initially believed to be an isolated miracle has now developed into a pattern of Pakistani supremacy. The global Tekken hierarchy has changed as a result of players like Arslan Ash, Atif Butt, Hafiz Tanveer and TheJon.

This most recent team triumph in South Korea is momentous for the global esport landscape as well as for Pakistan. It denotes a significant change in the competitive environment. The underdog is no longer Pakistan. The team to beat is them.

The More Comprehensive View

With Tekken 8 approaching and esports becoming more well known worldwide Pakistan’s influence will only increase. Pakistan has the potential to become a major force in esports with the right backing and the government and business sponsors are starting to take notice.

This conflict is not yet resolved. For the time being Pakistan is proud to have silenced the ruling monarchs in their own country.
