Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman was forced to leave the field with a back injury during the first over of the Champions Trophy match against New Zealand at National Stadium Karachi. The injury occurred while fielding during Shaheen Shah Afridi’s opening over.

Zaman sustained the injury while making a diving effort to stop a boundary. Though he successfully prevented the ball from crossing the rope, he appeared to be in discomfort immediately after, signaling for a substitute fielder. He briefly rested near the advertising boards before being assisted by the team physiotherapist and eventually escorted to the dressing room for further medical assessment.

Concerns Over Zaman’s Fitness

Zaman, a key player in Pakistan’s top order, was seen clutching his lower back as he left the field, raising concerns over his availability for the rest of the match and potentially the tournament. The extent of his injury remains uncertain, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical staff is closely monitoring his condition.

Pakistan, who won the toss and opted to field first, will be hoping for a swift recovery for Zaman, as his absence could impact the team’s batting strength in the tournament.

The Pakistani camp is expected to provide an official update on his condition soon, with fans eagerly waiting for positive news regarding his participation in the upcoming matches.
