Matches Scheduled at Multan Cricket Stadium as Part of ICC Test Championship

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule for the West Indies cricket team’s highly anticipated tour of Pakistan, marking their first Test series in the country since 2006.

Schedule and Fixtures

The West Indies squad will arrive in Islamabad on January 6, 2024. Ahead of the Test series, they will play a three-day match against Pakistan Shaheens from January 10 to 12 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

The two-match Test series, part of the ICC Test Championship, will be held at Multan Cricket Stadium.

  • First Test: January 17–21
  • Second Test: January 25–29

A Historic Return

The last time the West Indies played Test cricket in Pakistan was in November 2006 in a three-match series. Their most recent away Test series against Pakistan took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in October 2016.

Since April 2018, the West Indies have toured Pakistan three times but only for white-ball formats, including an ODI series in June 2022 and T20I series in April 2018 and December 2021.

Pakistan’s Recent Test Form

The home side will aim to maintain their winning momentum, having secured a 3-0 clean sweep against England in a home Test series earlier this year. That series marked their first home Test series victory since January 2021.

West Indies Squad

The visitors will field a strong squad for the tour, led by Kraigg Brathwaite as captain and Joshua Da Silva as vice-captain.

  • Squad: Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Joshua Da Silva (VC), Alick Athanaze, Keacy Carty, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Tevin Imlach, Amir Jangoo, Mikyle Louis, Gudakesh Motie, Anderson Phillip, Kemar Roach, Kevin Sinclair, Jayden Seales, Jomel Warrican

Significance of the Series

The return of Test cricket between Pakistan and the West Indies in Pakistan is a significant milestone for both nations, strengthening their cricketing ties and contributing to the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.

Fans and cricket enthusiasts eagerly await this historic series, which promises exciting competition and further development of the sport in the region.
