Saudi Arabia Launches World’s First Date-Based Soft Drink, ‘Milaf Cola’

RIYADH: In a groundbreaking move for the beverage industry, Saudi Arabia has unveiled Milaf Cola, the world’s first soft drink made from dates, at the Riyadh Date Festival. Developed by Thurath Al-Madina, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, Milaf Cola combines the natural health benefits of dates with a refreshing, carbonated twist, offering a healthier alternative to traditional sodas.

A Healthy, Natural Alternative

The key ingredient of Milaf Cola is high-quality dates, known for their natural sugars, fiber, and essential minerals. This makes the drink a nutritious substitute for conventional soft drinks, which are typically high in refined sugars and low in nutritional value.

Produced from locally sourced dates, the beverage adheres to international food safety standards and emphasizes eco-friendly production practices, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative aimed at economic diversification and sustainability.

Positive Reception

Milaf Cola has already garnered praise from attendees at the Riyadh Date Festival, who commended its natural sweetness and refreshing flavor. Many believe it could redefine the global soft drink industry by incorporating local, sustainable ingredients.

Future Expansion Plans

Thurath Al-Madina has ambitious plans to expand its product line, with future offerings including date-based energy drinks and flavored infusions. These innovations aim to showcase the versatility of dates as a core ingredient and solidify Saudi Arabia’s position as a leader in the global food and beverage sector.

Setting a New Trend

As Milaf Cola gains traction both locally and internationally, it is poised to set a new trend in the beverage market, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in the global food industry and its commitment to promoting healthy, sustainable products.

With its unique combination of tradition and innovation, Milaf Cola could soon become a symbol of Saudi Arabia’s broader push toward economic diversification and global market leadership.
