ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways (PR) has announced the launch of two special trains to facilitate Sikh pilgrims traveling for their annual religious event at Nankana Sahib. This initiative aims to provide convenient transportation for attendees from across the country, as reported by ARY News.

The first special train will depart from Karachi on November 12 at 10:30 PM. In addition, a shuttle train will start from Larkana at midnight, joining the Karachi-bound train at Rohri station to streamline travel for pilgrims from various regions.

The second special train is scheduled to depart from Nankana Sahib on November 16 at 4:00 PM. For the return journey, a shuttle train will leave from Rohri to Larkana, ensuring safe and organized travel for returning pilgrims.

This arrangement reflects Pakistan Railways’ commitment to accommodating Sikh pilgrims with smooth and accessible travel for their annual event. Additionally, on November 4, PR announced a special train from Karachi to Raiwind to support Tableeghi Jamaat participants, further expanding its services to meet the needs of religious gatherings.

The Railways Ministry has also implemented several other measures, including a 50% discount on fares for specially-abled individuals traveling in all express and passenger trains. Passengers with disabilities can access this concession by presenting a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) bearing the disability logo. The Ministry also offers a similar 50% discount for attendants accompanying visually impaired travelers.

This initiative aligns with Pakistan Railways’ broader revenue goal, aiming to generate approximately Rs. 8.5 million through special services and achieve a fiscal target of over Rs. 100 billion for the 2024-25 year.
