ISLAMABAD: A significant development has emerged regarding the outsourcing of Islamabad International Airport, as a Turkish company’s bid received technical approval, on Tuesday.
While several bids were submitted for the airport outsourcing, representatives from two companies were disqualified due to late submissions. The Turkish company submitted the highest bid for the project, with the tender process overseen by a committee led by the Secretary of Aviation.
Currently, a comprehensive evaluation of the Turkish company’s documents is in progress. Once this evaluation is complete, the proposal will be presented to the Pakistan Airports Authority’s Board of Directors for consideration.
Should the board approve the bid, the company will be awarded the outsourcing contract. The final decision regarding the tender will also require approval from the federal cabinet.
Secretary of Aviation Ahsan Mangi is scheduled to brief the Prime Minister on the progress of the outsourcing initiative today.
In September, the Ministry of Aviation took steps toward potentially outsourcing operations at Pakistan’s three major airports: Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. Sources indicate that the ministry has requested updated data on passenger traffic and flight operations at these airports over the past two years. Additionally, detailed information regarding revenue and contracts related to airport operations has also been sought.
