On October 1, 2024, the Pakistan and Qatar navies held a bilateral exercise named Asad Al Bahr-III in the North Arabian Sea, aimed at enhancing interoperability, joint operations, and strengthening defense ties.

The exercise featured Qatar’s Emiri Naval Ship AL KHOR alongside Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSHEER and ASLAT. According to the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) of the Pakistan Navy, the primary goal was to improve cooperation in addressing various maritime challenges in the region.

During the exercise, operations included maritime interdiction, search and rescue (SAR), and air defense drills. The Pakistan Navy emphasized that conducting joint exercises with regional navies reflects its commitment to addressing both traditional and non-traditional maritime challenges, ensuring the safety and security of seafarers in the region.

Pakistan regularly engages in bilateral exercises with allied navies to bolster maritime cooperation, promote regional stability, and enhance overall relations. These initiatives focus on improving tactical operations, interoperability, and counter-terrorism capabilities, demonstrating Pakistan’s dedication to collaborating with allies on maritime security efforts.
