Punjab Government Expands Lahore’s Administrative Structure with New Tehsils
Lahore, Pakistan – In a significant administrative overhaul, the Punjab government has restructured Lahore into 10 new tehsils, increasing the number of administrative divisions in the city. This move is aimed at improving governance, financial management, and public services.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the creation of these new tehsils, according to a summary that has now been enacted. Previously, Lahore District was comprised of six tehsils. The Board of Revenue’s notification details the newly established tehsils and their respective seat allocations:
- Raiwind: 51 seats
- Allama Iqbal Town: 19 seats
- Nishtar: 42 seats
- Model Town: 21 seats
- Cantt: 35 seats
- Sadar: 62 seats
- Wagah: 62 seats
- Shalimar: Seats not specified
- Ravi: 23 seats
- Lahore City: 23 seats
To manage these new administrative divisions, the Commissioner of Lahore has appointed five assistant commissioners to oversee the operations of the new tehsils.
This reorganization is expected to enhance the efficiency of administrative processes and improve public service delivery across Lahore.
