Lahore, Pakistan – The Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 is set to kick off in China from September 8th to 17th, featuring six nations vying for the prestigious title. Pakistan will join China, India, Japan, Korea, and Malaysia in what promises to be a thrilling tournament.

Pakistan will begin their campaign with a crucial match against Malaysia on September 8th. With a competitive field ahead, the team is preparing to make a strong impression as they aim to navigate their way to the top.

This year has been a mixed bag for Pakistan’s hockey team. They faced a significant setback earlier this year when they failed to qualify for the Olympics, losing 0-4 to Germany in the semifinals and suffering a close 3-2 defeat to New Zealand in the third-place match. This marked Pakistan’s third consecutive Olympic absence, a disappointing outcome for the former hockey powerhouse.

Despite these challenges, the team found success in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, going unbeaten through the group stages before narrowly losing to Japan in the final. They also performed admirably in the Hockey Nations Cup, advancing to the semifinals before falling to New Zealand in a tight match.

Pakistan has a rich history in the Asian Champions Trophy, having finished as runners-up in the inaugural 2010 edition and claiming the title in 2012 and 2013. Historically, the men’s title has often been contested fiercely between India and Pakistan, with Korea breaking the trend in 2021.

As the 2024 tournament approaches, the big question is whether Pakistan can reclaim their former glory and return to the top of the podium. With the stakes high and the competition fierce, all eyes will be on Pakistan as they aim to make history once again.
