Instagram Introduces Music to Profiles: Here's How to Use the New Feature

SAN FRANCISCO: Instagram has rolled out a new feature that allows users to add music to their profiles, offering a fresh way to express personality and set the tone for visitors. This latest update lets users pin a song to their profile, playing a 30-second clip that represents their mood or character, adding an extra layer of self-expression beyond photos and bios.

Whether it’s a nostalgic hit or the latest chart-topper, the music you choose will play as soon as someone visits your profile, offering a unique glimpse into who you are before they even read a word or see a picture.

This feature is now available to all users, from casual Instagrammers to content creators, making profiles more dynamic and personalized.

How to Add Music to Your Instagram Profile:

  1. Update Your App: Ensure you have the latest version of Instagram installed.
  2. Edit Profile: Navigate to your profile and tap on “Edit Profile.”
  3. Add Music: You’ll find a new option to “Add Music.” Tap on it to proceed.
  4. Choose Your Song: Browse through Instagram’s extensive library of licensed music or search for your favorite track.
  5. Select a Clip: Choose the 30-second portion of the song you want to feature on your profile.
  6. Save: Once satisfied with your selection, save the changes, and your profile will now include the chosen song.

This addition allows users to convey their mood and personality through music, offering something for every vibe—whether upbeat, reflective, or anything in between.

Instagram initially began testing this feature in 2022. It was first highlighted on Sabrina Carpenter’s profile, where she previewed her upcoming song “Taste.” Now, after nearly two years, the feature is available to everyone, allowing users to make their profiles truly unique.
