LESCO Facilitates Solar Users with Temporary Green Meters Amid AMI Transition. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced a major update for solar energy users, allowing the temporary installation of bi-directional green meters for the next three months. This move comes amid LESCO’s transition to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).

Consumers can now apply for and install solar meters until October 15. Interested parties must obtain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to use these meters in their solar installations. This decision follows LESCO’s earlier shift from green meters to AMI, which led to significant cost increases and raised concerns among consumers and industry stakeholders.

The transition to AMI meters has posed challenges for solar energy users, prompting LESCO to reintroduce green meters temporarily. This temporary solution is seen as a more accessible option for solar system owners, helping them manage their energy usage and costs effectively.

In addressing recent reports about a ban on green meters, LESCO clarified that NOCs for AMI meters are being issued to combat over-billing and power theft. The company emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition to the new metering system while providing necessary support to its customers.

LESCO also notified consumers in advance about power outages due to repair work on the I-Con Valley feeder. The announcement was communicated through newspapers, ensuring that residents were informed about the planned maintenance activities.

This update is part of LESCO’s ongoing efforts to facilitate a seamless transition to advanced metering technology while addressing the immediate needs of solar energy users. The temporary availability of green meters is expected to provide relief to consumers facing challenges during this transitional period.
