Pagla Mosque, nestled in the heart of Kishoreganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh, has recently become the center of attention due to a remarkable surge in donations from worshippers, exceeding 50 crore rupees throughout the year.
A widely circulated viral video on social media depicts a lengthy queue of individuals seated within a spacious hall, meticulously counting stacks of currency notes. Mohammad Saleem, a prominent social media activist, confirmed that the footage originated from Pagla Mosque in the Kishoreganj area of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
According to Saleem, in 2023 alone, an astounding sum of 55 crore 33 lakh 29 thousand 601 Pakistani rupees was collected from the eight branches of Pagla Mosque. These collections are emptied three times annually to manage the accumulated donations.
The most recent counting of donations from the mosque’s eight branches took place on December 9, 2023. The event was overseen by notable figures including Abul Kalam Azad, the Deputy Commissioner of Kishore Nagar, Mohammad Rasul Sheikh, President of the Pagla Mosque Committee, and the Superintendent of Police in Kishoreganj. Twenty-three sacks brimming with monetary contributions were amassed, resulting in a total donation of 15 crore 99 lakh 69 thousand 173 rupees over four months. The counting process, which lasted fifteen hours, was rigorous. Additionally, valuable items such as gold, silver, and diamonds were also recovered, contributing to the overall value of donations.
